Took in my 2023 for the panel cluster recall and dealer told me that what they do is tear the dash down to access the module. If the module is defective or needs to be replaced, they put everything back together, give me my truck back and order the replacement. To be installed at a later date.....when they will tear the dash down again to access and replace. Why wouldn't they have a module in inventory? Or decline the recall appointment for a later date?
Seems like Ford loves to spend money and time on recalls so they can re-coup the cost on next year's model price increases.

Thank goodness my dealer did not do that to mine ! They simply ordered a new module pre programmed with the mileage at the time they ordered it . Only one tear down and that was for the new module . So far your dealer is the only one who has done that .

That appears to be a really odd dealer choice to take care of a recall. If you received a NHTSA recall notice based on your trucks VIN your truck is identified as part of the recall. Your dealer has been instructed to either: replace the IPC or IPC module. What an inefficient way to handle the recall.
As an aside, I did notice that my cluster was better aligned in the dash so that none of the gear indicators were covered by the bottom trim ring. Previously, about the bottom 25-30% of the letters/numbers were covered by the trim.
Yesterday, I had some time to mess around in the cluster while I was waiting in the truck for my son to come out. I scrolled through all the menus and didn't notice much difference, if any at all. However, I did notice that my engine hours had been reset to zero after the recall. I didn't think to check it since my mileage was correct when I picked up the truck, but since I'll be taking the truck back in soon for a couple of warranty items that still aren't corrected, I'll inquire then.
Just some FYI for folks to check when having the recall done.
Thats cool they did it in your driveway! LOL Did the miles on your screen match what they were when the procedure started? I gained 200 miles back when they did mine. My odo was 7719 when I dropped it off and was 7588 when I picked it up. They sent a video of mine being done and I didn't look to close. lol Like yours there were pieces everywhere and my speakers didn't work when I got it back but it was an easy fix.
You did way better than me, I noticed fairly soon that the engine hours were reset to zero. I made an appointment right away, but it was around the holidays and I couldn't make it. Than I noticed in the app that my truck had 132k miles. I than took a closer look at the dash which matched. Not idea how I missed that for so long, but the truck had just over 18k miles when I took it in. Take it back to dealer on Monday.
