Need help with identifying this

Installed radiator and for some reason it seemed to not sit in saddle in the same manner as it did in the exact same model truck I took it our of (I have 49 and a 50 F1). in its current mounting position, the L bracket on the inside top of the hood its the radiator cap. Anyone know what that bracket is for?

Kind of hard to see but the Radiator Air Dam in the hood bolts to it. Not sure on your years, but on 51-52 there is a bracket that goes to the Hood Latch Plate.

This is the air dam above the radiator. Even if moved to the 6 cyl position the radiator should sit behind the bracket

This is location on a 48-50 V8. The 6 cly radiator locates approx 2" forward but should still clear the bracket. Is something different with your engine mounts?
The radiator bolts to the back side of the support. If you're on the wrong (front) side of it I can see where it might contact.
