What is the best way to get to the torque converter nuts on my Sport-Trac? Do I go from underneath? I took the exhaust manifold off to get the starter out but I still can't reach the nuts. There is a piece of the suspension that is in my way, but I saw a video someone briefly mentioned moving it out of the way when they replaced the starter, but my starter is already out so not sure if this will help me. I'm having problems turning the engine over anyways(see picture) so I might have to pull the transmission with it so if you have any thoughts on that I would be interested in hearing them.
Update: The service manual I ordered finally showed up. The piece of suspension that is in my way is a frame dampner and Ford says to remove it. That solves that problem I hope.
Doing some research today I came across a website listing the weakness of the 4.0 SOHC. One of them was a problem that doesn't show up until 60k miles. Want to take a wild guess what the issue is? Valve spring failure. Ford has been making valve springs for over 100 years. How can this be a problem in the 21st century?
