Brake replacement

Good day all. I am getting ready to replace pads/rotors on my truck-2016 F350 CC DRW 4x4 with 57k miles. Does anyone have experience with the Powerstop Z36 kit? Says it is geared toward trucks for frequent towing.

Towing brakes are vented to try and cool them between hard usages and on hills, and use ceramic pads for less fade. The z36 just kits it and makes it easy, not that they are superior in performance. Same performance is found in the raybestos s-grooves and then pick a good ceramic pad, maybe even the z36 pads. going that route you save 200 for just the rear kit. (100x2 rotors + 45 pads = 245, z36 rear duals is 440). drilled rotors look cool, don't help at all on a truck unless your auto crossing your dually. If so, post some video, we all want to see that.

I had 2 sets, and did not get more than 5k out of them before they warped. Followed install/break in procedure to the letter. Customer service was of no help. Just my experience.

I did the Z36 all around on my '11. They're fine but I probably wouldn't spend the money again for the cheese graters <---- just a nickname, they don't really grate your pads. Some keyboard experts like to get really upset about that.

Definitely put more than 5k on them. I'd get quality rotors and pads and be done.

There is some truth to the cheese grater ordeal. They are designed to keep a fresh clean surface on the pads and they will wear a pad out quicker because of this.

I have used powerstop, cryo treated rotors, centric drilled/ slotted along with the Z pads, hawk pads, centric, etc. Cryo gave me the worst life, centric did good and haven't failed but started making noise even though they are around half life or so.
I just recently replaced my entire brake system with dynamic friction to try this time around.

From my experience, there hasn't been any performance benefits in any setup i've tried, while others claim they work way better than stock

I feel that a good rotor that won't warp, whether its solid or slotted and good oem pad will be just fine. "performance" pads will have more dust and will have a shorter life
Whenever I need new pads/ rotors again; I want to try EBC, then I might just go back to OEM. Maybe it's just been too long and i don't remember what OEM was like but I do not recall ever having any benefit over them.

If you're really intimate with your vehicle, you can tell the difference in the brake pedal when going to slotted rotors. The gasses heat and expand, creating a cushion between the rotor and the pad, and have to escape by squishing out from a solid rotor. Slotted and/or drilled allows these gasses to escape inward. I don't go out of my way to replace brakes with slotted or drilled on a regular vehicle, but I do normally go that route once it's time for brakes.

I went ahead and ordered Raybestos S-Groove rotors and Powerstop Z36 pads all the way around. Hopefully have some time next week to install them. We will see what happens. Thank you all for your input.
