I am told I need a rebuild of me ecm. Who should I use? It is apparently a rare one 8c3z-12a650-bhe-rm 2008 f-250 v10 auto 4x4 king ranch. They want $3400 to buy one if they can find it! My trucks AC blows hot then cold for a little but mostly hot. Backup camera flashes on and off which also has the reverse lights flashing! I'm sure that scares some people behind me! A big shop that did some work said I had a bad pin on my ecm. 6 months later I brought it to ford and they said I need to rebuild the ecm. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Has the battery and charging system been thoroughly tested for proper operation? If so and its operating per specifications and it can be proven to indeed be the ECM by competent mechanics a simple rebuild shouldn't be a huge ordeal. While your particular vehicle might be unique the refurbishing process for the ECM shouldn't be too far beyond the capabilities of a well known vendor for that action.
Some here have used various vendors and I'm sure they'll be glad to share their experiences. At worst you'll send your ECM to the vendor of choice and await their diagnosis. You could also ask such a vendor if an ECM from another vehicle could be obtained and refurbished to the same specifications, the strategies for your particular vehicle loaded into the ECM you'd receive after their completion.
Not sure any of that is helpful but good luck with your repairs. Please do let us know what becomes of this issue.
Hi Reup,
OMG! my 2009 v10 auto lariat has the exact same symptoms! Mine also is throwing O2 sensor error codes too. I thought it has something to do with the O2 sensors and evaporative control system, but alas, all those parts have been replaced, and I'm still getting the same codes, and check engine light, and of course the intermittent a/c and reverse system tempest. My shop came to the same conclusion - need a replacement or refurbished ECM. But there's none to be had! I found one that will "fit" my 2009 truck, but it doesn't replace my exact ECM part number, 9C3Z-12A650-AVD.
What did you end up doing? I appreciate one-who-has-gone-before-me, and really appreciate you asking this forum!

Hot wire the ac compresser add switch to dash, take out reverse bulbs and add a switch to backwards flood lights. Nothing else we can do until someone makes a new ecm.
Thanks so much for the quick reply! Well that's going to take some doing, but seems to be a lot less $$ than a who-knows-if-another-ECM-will-work. I'm only using one of my 4 stock upfitter toggle switches for a subwoofer. I feel like I'm going apollo-11 to drive my truck!
Thanks again,
Mike
