I've been wanting a box to go into the bed of my truck to put tools, jack, spare parts etc instead of cramming everything under the front seat.
I had been looking for one of these round top metal boxs for a couple of years. I found it at an antique shop and paid $125 for it.
It had about 2 coats of brushed on house paint and a lot of surface rust underneath the paint. It was pretty beat up, so it took a lot of work to straighten it out. It's not perfect but it'll do.
Very neat looking and period correct. I assume it is bolted to the bed.
Not yet...Im going to remove a couple of the carriage bolts that hold the strips down and run longer bolts through the
bottom of the box. That way if i ever wanrt to eliminate the box there wont be any holes in the wood.
That looks great! I'm amazed at what old toolboxes are going for at antique places and ebay. But they don't make them like they used to, that's for sure.
What's this Craftsman socket set worth? My Dad bought it new. And how old is it? I'm thinking it might be as old as 1948. That's when my parents moved to our farm as renters. Their landlord bought a 48 8N for Dad to use. My parents bought our homestead in 1959.

Any issues with me "borrowing" this idea?
No problem......I got the idea from seeing another truck with one.
I think it was actually an old car trunk like you would see on the back of Model As etc.
I like the looks of your toolbox selection.
Can't take credit for this one, as it belongs to a friend who's working on a build. He modified a new F1 tailgate, and its welded in and part of the bed to carry suitcases and misc stuff for road trips so items weren't just laying in the bed while traveling. He plans to have a magnet on the keychain, that when passed over the latch, opens it. Can't wait to see it completed, as he has not spared a single expense on this one...... In bed box
