On the Mav, from the factory is a cable is plugged into the OBDII access port that runs up to the dashboard, that has a 2nd short cable connected to it, that has a different type of rectangular multi female connector, not connected to anything.
When I plugged in my HUD display, I thought I was just removing a cap on the port to plug it in. I went for a test drive, and everything seemed normal with the Mav. When I got home, I noticed cable/connector hanging down, and determined the OBDII male part of the had been plugged in.
What is this cable for? Can you safely run w/o it plugged in???
Update!!! I called my Service Dept., and was told it is for Lo Jack system installed by the dealership, so it can be left unplugged. They say it is for their insurance purposes, but it is redundant with the FordPass vehicle tracking, so it makes no sense.
