Just as a data point, my '89 Crown Vic with the '5.8L Police' package, was one of those weird Variable Venturi carbed engines, and those also had E6 heads on it. That engine was a major oil leaker when I bought the car in 2006, and at 192k miles was begging for a rebuild. Those restrictive heads got replaced along with everything else! The rebuild initially turned into an emissions-sniffer-test-legal 393W, but that is a whole 'nuther story!
