Are these still worth a grand? Found one at the pick n pull for 200 bones so snagged it. Axle has 4:10 gears and ball joint, not king pin. Plans of throwing it into a 1994 Bronco but decided a Dana 44 is the better option. Looking for input on what to do with it.... leave it in the garage corner for a rainy day or sell than pound my head into the wall when I find a F250 in need of a SAS....
Yup, not cheap anymore, and somewhat harder to find. Did you get the LH ubolt plate with it? Track bar, track bar mount, drive shaft, transfer case yoke, pitman arm, etc..? I’d go back and get all that too if it’s still there. Leaf springs too. I’d just grab the tx case too for that matter.
I’d hang onto it.. if I was closer I’d store if for you.
Unfortunately, someone had tried to get the axle a day or two before me. They had cut the driver side u bolts and snagged that bottom plate. I got everything else. Although I didn't get the pitman arm; when I SAS'd my F250, I had to go with a drop pitman arm. I'm betting when you did put in your Dana 60 axle, you went with newer super duty leaves and an RSK? IF not, man does it make a difference.
No, I was able to get everything except the drive shaft off a ‘97, bought the D/S off RA. Pitman arm I got (steering gear box too), it was a stock F350, and I used new stock F350 springs.
No RSK, I couldn’t really make it work easily with a plow mount. I’m sure it can be done, but just wasn’t worth it to me.
Oof, my back hurts just thinking about that lol. Although you make a good point, a plow mount would be difficult. From what I've heard, lifted trucks and snow plows don't play well together.
Hey Brain, I see you did 1 tons on your bronco, how big of pain in a$$ was it? Radius arms or leaf spring up front? Rear wasn't easy either was it, not the same perch width to go from the 8.8 to the 10.25, right?
I did Excursion springs and a Sky Off Road Super Duty to OBS spring mount. Super easy swap. The mount isn't designed for the "crumple zone" front frame, but I was able to drill it and mount with no issues. 10.25 is pretty much a bolt in. Same perch width.
