I have a 1989 F-350 7.3 diesel automatic Gear Vendor overdrive, 4x4, dually, crew cab, and I can't help but constantly notice that the side markers on my dually fenders are not in the same place as every other truck I see in pictures.
Other trucks: The marker lights are not centered in any way, and are basically on the edge of the fender or on the edge of the gas cap, and look very weird and out of place in my opinion, for example:
or like this
Meanwhile, my truck, is above the cap and centered on both sides. I have not seen one other truck like mine, and I am wondering if this is somehow like a fake dually or something. The only other thing I can think of is that this truck was made in Canada, so could that be the reason? Maybe different regulations in the US required the US models to be more outward? I just have never seen it like mine and am wondering if anyone has a clue
Mine (I have aftermarket LED side markers, I know those are not original): Driverside Front Driverside Rear Passengerside Front Passengerside Rear
Let me know if you can make anything of it, thanks
Yeah, those OEM holes are exactly what I am talking about.

Possibly. I have old receipts that came with the truck that show some paint work, but don't specify where. It was about $700, so maybe it could relate to the side markers. Especially since the only paint damage on the truck is on the front-facing side fenders from the rocks getting sent up.
It was probably just something weird and random like paintwork. I was hoping it wasn't something crazy like a fake dually lol. I like it the way it is on my truck anyway now so I'm not really complaining. I was just curious
DOT sates that ICC lights need to be placed on the outer most surface of the truck.
That is why you see the lights on trailers top & bottom on the corners.
Yours to be legal need to be out to the outer edge.
At night how do you know where the outer edge of the fenders are?

If the lights were moved and original holes filled, you should be able to see either welds or body filler on the back side, if it's worth the effort of removing the fender liners to get a look at it.

I thought the fender were glass and no liners?
I know my 81 Flare side are glass and no liners
So if no liners he should be able to poke his head up in there and see if they put a glass patch where the light use to be.

Kinda looks better centered. I wouldn't worry about it. Bet it had new fenders installed at a body shop and the guy working on it though it looked good that way.
