its no wonder why so many americans are over-weight...
im not trying to offend anyone here- but a few weeks ago i was doing a tree job for my friends uncle. i saw 4 of his neighboors using leaf-blowers, instead of rakes! 4 people....
and on the AOL News section tonight it said that a pop company is releasing a "turkey and gravy" flavored soft drink...
everything in America is geared towards ill health. If you read every label on foods, you will find list upon list of chemicals that your body doesn't want. Clothing now is sized larger than 10 years ago, to make people feel better about their size, and exercise machines fool people into thinking they are getting fit.
A huge proportion of the population is over 100 pounds overweight, and people think that the popular concept ideal weight is accurate. There are people over 40 pounds over weight who think they are the ideal weight..
It is crazy, it is too easy to get a machine to do the work that could keep us all fit, and I know people who live down the road from the store, who never ever walk to it.
I think everyone on the North American continent is brainwashed. Fast food - while it can taste good - is BAD for you. I'll admit I eat it regularly, but I don't like to make a habit of it.
i was just thinking to myself though- i have a snow plow on my four wheeler. BUT... i live at the end of a cul-du-sac, so we get a snow embankment when the city plows come around thats about 20 feet long, 4 feet high, and 5 feet wide.... takes about an hour to shovel if its packed down. BUT... i plow my driveway, and the majority of my neighboors driveways even if theyd never return the favor...
Someone asked me why I was splitting wood with wedges instead of renting a machine. I said I would not lose any weight using it. The only thing lighter would be my wallet.
How bout those robot vacuum cleaners and lawnmowers? I can't think of anything much lazier than that. I mean, especially the vacuum cleaner, that's not very hard OR time consuming. When are they gonna start selling pre-chewed food?
Am I really just lazy if I let the goats and sheep out to eat the lawn instead of me cutting it? I finally found my lawn mower it was in an unused horse stall, I found it when I was hiding from the deer.
This is one of the reasons I like my job. They more or less pay me to work out 5 days a week. As much as I love paperwork, the thought of sitting behind a desk again does not appeal to me or my figure. Sitting in front of the computer at home is enough.
whats the ideal weight of a 6ft person? i weighed in at 135 up until a few months ago. finally gained some weight. now im at 145 with other people my size and shorter weighing in at 175+. are they overweight or am i just underweight.
Without more information about you, it is impossible to determine your ideal weight. It is possible to weigh 145 lb at 6 ft in some circumstances - a person with my skeletal shape, and muscle mass would be very underweight at that, but a slender, light boned person with a narrow chest could be spot on at that weight. My ideal weight would be 183 lb. I have about 36 lb to loose before I get there.

Theo's right, it depends on your bone structure and muscle density. My brother in law is 6'7" and weighs 180, he looks skeletal but he seems healthy. Never gains a pound either.
I am 5'5", and once upon a time when I weighed 105 I was told my ideal weight was 145. I thought this was hysterical and unthinkable. Now that I've gone to 160+ and back down to 135, it doesn't seem so funny anymore.
Just reread the first post: turkey and gravy soda??!! EWWWWW
dont forget the milk thats supposed to be coming out soon that has caffiene in it.
i believe technology is to blame for todays weight problems. everytime they make something easier for someone, the lazier people get. i know theres alot of people who cant help it, but theres a majority of people who dont make an effort to stay in shape or eat atleast somewhat healthy.
im about 5'11" 155lbs, i dont gain a pound no matter how much i eat. im always working or keeping busy so that probably helps.

I am overweight by about 40 lbs, as well. I am 6 ft 4 and am the width of most football centers. I suffer from Crohn's Disease so my doctor and I are in close contact about my weight. With Crohn's most people tend to lose weight and that is true with me. The medication I was put on caused me to gain 80 lbs. The doctor reduced my dosage and put me on a 1500 calorie diet and I have lost 40lbs of that. My ideal weight is 250 lbs. I hope to get there one day. So, your ideal weight is based on many things. If I was typical body size at 6 ft 4 my ideal weight would be 210 lbs, but because of my bone density and body mass it is much higher. I hate that I am so massive, but nothing I can do about it but just try to maintain the 1500 calorie a day diet.
I think that the weight problem in the country is going to get worse. There are alot of overweight kids that are growing up never eating any vegetables or getting any exercise. Its really bad. Some kids I teach can't sit at a regular desk. I feel bad for them because the kids make fun of them, they dont have a good self image, and their health is being compromised. I hope something can happen so we can all get healthy.
