Got a 1983 f150 with a 300 straight 6 that has a carburetor. The problem I am having is there is no spark. Is there a way to get rid of the ignition module and convert it to strictly a distributer and coil only?

If you buy a HEI retro-fit distributor. It will still have a module, but it's all built into one unit.
Does your state require an intact smog control system? I have the EEC-IV system and I would have to also change my carb. I just had my TFI go out and it was easy to change. I don't know what the '83 has.
Like everything else, look at the reviews and how many they have sold. And then dive in and make your decision Most of the ones on Ebay and Amazon are all made in the same place anyway..
My advice, is to buy locally, from an auto parts store, where you can go back to in minutes, if you have an issue. Try doing that with some on-line place.
Then go the cheapest route and easiest. Buy local. I learned years ago, that old parts... it's best to replace the distributor and associated items as a unit. I learned the expensive way, going one piece at a time. Ended up just buying a new dizzy, which fixed all issues. How is your dizzy, and plug wires and plugs ? Many pieces involved.
That's the thing. It is a pain when I quickly need it and it doesn't start
After 40 years things do wear out and the DSII / TFI ICM's are a known issue now days with age..
The only way I would swap out the dist. is if yours is the TFI, you can tell if TFI dist. as it dose not have a vacuum advance can and hose.
Then the new dist., HEI? would have a vacuum can but the big thing is it has timing advance where the TFI unit only advance by a computer that may not be working right after 40 years.

Think I also found another problem. Probably the main problem. Something in the ignition switch
That could be as they have also been known to wear out over 40+ years.
Also because were they are mounted they get dirt in them and also stop working.
Sometimes you can pull it and clean it with electrical cleaner & lube and see if that works but if I was going thu all that I would just replace it.
Are you finding somethings dont work like the heater motor or radio, ect. that need the key turned on?
If you move the key back & forth a little do they then start working?
BTW I had a switch that would not turn off all the way and a cleaning & lube fixed it but I had the cleaner & lube and a 2nd switch from a parts truck I could do the same with but its been working for 4+ years now.

Oh just a thought do you have power to the + side of the coil?
If so does it blink (test light) when on the - side of coil when cranking?
No power in could be the IGN switch.
No blink out could be the module or the pickup coil if you have power in
If I understand right.
