Strut Assembly

I have a 2014 F150 Supercrew XLT 5.0 4x4 157wb 3.55 LSD. I think I want OEM Motorcraft strut assemblies for replacement. I use Motorcraft as often as possible for repairs. Many aftermarket companies leave 2014 out of the discussion. Having the same style lower front shock mount as later years, I would like to use takeoffs from a later model. I am currently looking at some from a 2023 model F150. I considered Bilstein, but I want a loaded strut. I also do not want to change height. (Rear shocks to be changed, too.) Does anyone have any experience with this idea? My VIN tag has VVAA for springs.

I would imagine that there has been some change ups through all those years. I’d guess that struts from a ‘13 would fit before a ‘23, but who knows. Forgive me if I missed it, but what do the newer struts have that the old ones don’t?

I think 13+ do not have that 450ft/lb sleeve bushing LCA connection. Just two bolts I think.

Well, 9-13 have a thru bolt in bottom of shock. 14 has a new LCA and the shock has two bolts facing down. 15 and up are built the same as 14, but the trucks are aluminum. I wanted to know whether anyone had used a newer version on the steel truck. With 15+ being lighter, would it be strong enough, would it give a smoother ride, etc? Thanks anyway.

Ah gotcha. I just assumed 09-14 would all be the same. My parents have an ‘18, I’ll park beside it next time and compare underneath.

If they’re built the same, tell the parts guy to get you p/n of a ‘14 strut and then the newer strut to see if they’re the same. Probly not but it’s worth a shot if they seem identical.
