I've got a new to me 03 7.3 that came without running boards. The rockers were rusted out and repaired by the previous owner but when they did the work they didn't replace the running boards. I got on the local classifieds and located a set of 2011-2014 F-150 Running boards that I made to fit so I thought I would share. I think they came out pretty good! As you'll see in the pictures it required a little fabrication. What's not pictured is that I need to put in a couple of braces between the board brackets and the frame to stiffen it up a bit. Enjoy! Before After Added Steel angle to the bracket with bolts. Attached threaded clips to the angle to make relocated attachment points. backside of brackets Drilled new holes in rockers. First time using a step drill bit. Made quick work of it. Added more threaded clips. Mounted brackets using 13MM Grade 8 bolts. Top ones tread towards the outside while the bottom ones treaded towards the inside. This made for a great sandwiching effect. The running board attaches with threaded clips as well so I was able to adjust it to be exactly where I wanted it. I think they came out great but I do think they look best with the black and chrome ex. I'm not sure how they would look with other colors.
They look great on your Ex, that was an excellent modification to the 150 boards. I agree that they look good on the black truck, I also have the exact same Ex as you only in the V10.
Great Job. Looks really nice. My pass. side rear rockers shot and running boards totally unsupp. there. Fronts still strong though. wish I knew some place that would replace it for reasonable price probably doesn’t exist.
