I have a 95 Bronco with a 6" lift with 35x14.5x15 tires. The driver side tire rubs on the outer edge for daily driving when I turn left so I have not gone off road yet. Will a 1" lift fix it or should I get some 35x12.5x15 tires??
Oh, sorry, they rub the fender by the driver side door. It has a chrome strip around the fender and it is cutting the sout side of the tire up. Will 12.5 not rub?
Dropping tire width by 2" should more than likely cure the problem however the backspacing on the rims is an important factor as well. Most suspension lift manufacturers recommend 35x12.50's with a 6" lift and they assume a relatively standard aftermarket backspacing of 3-3.5". If your backspacing is shallower than that (less than 3"), you may still have troubles especially at full suspension compression and hard-over on the steering.
Thats another possible solution. If the rubbing you have now is minor, an inch or two in distance from the tire or reduction in tire size should be enough to solve your dilema. If you are concerned about how much rub you will get at full suspension compression, cut the wheels hard over, then jack the offending wheel up to compress the suspension. Keep an eye on how much it pushes into the fender or reduce your tire pressure to keep from cutting it.
So that what must be my problem, then. I have a 6" superlift and 35x12.50s. I got mad rubbin. I just had a neighbor shave the bumpers a bit (can hardly tell) and that cured it. Well, I still get rubbin of I kink it up too much. I thought that the problem was that superlift recommened a 15x8 wheel and I have 15x10. If I dropped down, would that make a difference? I have no idea what the backspacing on my wheels are (they were free).
Wish I could help OJ, but I am new. I did order a front leveling kit that will add 2 inches in the front which will stop my 14.5's from rubbin. Maby you should look it up. I got mine from www.jcwhitney.com Check it out, it is from Daystar.
