Driving my bronco today, stopped at a stop light, went to take off nothing happened. Gave her some gas and all she did was stall. Felt like tranny was stuck in reverse (when it stalled, it jumped backwards), but I hadn't put it in reverse all day. By the time it got to AAMCO, we could roll it (wouldn't move before). They said they would call me when they found the problem, but I was hoping that you guys could help soften the blow. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what kind of price am I looking at?
Oh yeah, the tranny's a M5OD. Thanks for any help.
Sorry but its ognna be bad news. Aamco is going to tell you something to get you spend money there. But just the same, I had that same prob happen in an old International Scout I had and it wound up needing a rebuild.Just happened out of the blue.
Yeah, I figured as much. I was readlly hoping that it was just a problem with the linkage. So far, they're telling me that its going to be $400 just for the labor (removing, inspecting, and diagnosing) and that's without fixing anything!!!
Well man......the same happened to me.......a little different ...I would stop and then give it gas and it would literally jump. It turned out to be the transfer case....the most expensive dern part on my truck.
Well I went AAMCO this morning and the told me that the tranny was shot, clutch needs repaired, and the flywheel/pressure plate need resurfacing. Very pissed off, I towed it to a ford garage and they told me the same thing. Both said that it was going to be just short of $2000 to fix. I am starting to hate this Bronco.
If it was me, I'd go get an np435 out of the junkyard, and swap it in myself.
Probably run you $200 for the tranny, $100 for the clutch, $50 for a flywheel resurface, probably $100 for a new slave cylinder. Busted knuckles: Priceless.
If I had the time and space to do my own work, I would. Also I've checked the majority of junk yards around here and most have just laughed when I told them what I need (most of the yards here are filled with imports and chevys). I'm getting really close to just cutting my losses with this thing.
embarrassed by a lightening? show him what a real ford can do and bring out the mach 1 . But its all gravy, my 302 all stock bronco slammed a 4x4 chebby this past weekend, right before getting warned by the chick cop. .
