I wanted to see if anybody could help me and give me some tips. I just bought a 06 6.0 and the gentleman that had the truck before me had done some upgrades. I’ve noticed that when I give a hard throttle and the boost builds up, the boots blow off and the truck has no power. All I have to do is put the boot back on and retighten the clamp but I wanted to see if there was a way to solve this problem?
First make sure the boots and IC pipes are clean. Due to the crank case venting they get oil inside of them.
Clean them off inside and out with brake clean. In higher boost situation some hairspray helps them hold a bit tighter.
Are your boots original and in good shape? The oil will degrade them over time.
If they are aftermarket some do not have a ridge inside to help with grip. If they are smooth inside and don't say motorcraft on them consider replacing them with some silicone boots from Riffraff.
Also, there is a proper torque for the clamps. some parts are plastic so don't over-torque them. If your drivers side IC pipe on the front of the engine is plastic consider either finding one off an 03-04 truck or an aftermarket one.

Welcome to the forum!
Good advice above. First, clean. I use acetone most the time. Two, use a boot with the ridge. Not all clamps will have the ridge. Three, I over tighten. I've never had to use hairspray, but I have used xylene or some other solvent, and don't run it till the solvent evaporates. I think that's as good or better than hair spray. But only use a very little. Four, use quality boots. I just replaced two. Don't waist your time looking like I did. I thought I could find good boots for less. Nope. I won't get that day of searching back. You won't find a quality boot for less than you can get them at Riff Raff. You can find them much cheaper, but who knows if they'll work.
I used to clean the boots and pipe ends with mineral spirits (paint thinner) and follow-up with denatured alcohol. This is the system we used for cleaning the CNC mill bed of cutting fluid and way lube before sticking down hunks of plastic with double stick tape for machining. I torque the band clamps to 96 lb-in (stock spec is 108 lb-in) and never had one blow off in the eight years I've owned a 6.0L.
I have deleted the CCV so I only wipe them with alcohol every few times they're removed for good measure. I also have the Riff Raff boots. Not sure why they only have the rib in the boot at the intake, but they are solid.
ive got the riffraff boots and their clamps and havent had one blow off. i cleaned everything with degreaser and used some hairspray, havent had an issue since.
I used to pop off my boots constantly, especially while towing our 9500 pound camper, I could never make more than 17 to 18 pounds of boost without blowing them off. As recommended from here I bought Riff Raff boots and new clamps, cleaned the pipes with brake cleaner throughly. After, I never popped a pipe off.

Have you needed to remove any of the boots since using hair spray? How much fun was that?
