Tie rod taper question

The tech at the alignment shop told me I had a good bit of play in right outer tie rod end so I ordered a new one (Motorcraft) but the castle nut is threading the stud into the hole in the spindle far enough to where the hole for the cotter pin is above the topmost point of the castle nut aka seems like it's way too far. This is me twisting the nut with just my hand. The grease boot is way compressed too. My old tie rod end had "1:6 TAPER" pressed into the topside but the new tie rod end doesn't show anything of the sort. I ordered the part from a highly reputable parts store here in Texas so I’m pretty sure it's the right part, but additionally I cross referenced the part number and it checks out for my truck. Any thoughts/suggestions about this? So far as I know everything to do with the suspension and steering of the truck is all stock. Any help is appreciated

Do you own a caliper or micrometer? I would measure the tapered studs on the old and new parts and see how they compare. Also couldn't hurt to pop the other tie rod and compare the diameters of the tapered holes in both spindles.
