Over the years I have done maintenance on the OX over and above because of my nightmare experiences of the 'on the side of the road' events in the past. I rebuild, replace and service all the things I can think of over the winter for my six month trips in the summer. Two years ago for example I replaced all the sensors with new ones from Clay. I was wondering about my UVCH's, should they be replaced every so often? Mine were converted to the SD style about seven or eight years ago. I was thinking about ordering new ones to take with me along with my many other parts that I carry or replacing them and carrying the old ones with me, what do you guys think?
I have seen new ones fail in a month, my 2000 excursion still has the factory harnesses, over 200,000 miles on them.
not something I would change as preventative maintenance.

agreed. my 02 has 194,000 miles on it and has factory harnesses
I've got 313,000 on the original harness and haven't noticed any issues to date. I've owned my truck since new. This past summer I clocked 12,000 miles coast to coast.
Still got the original harnesses on my Early 99 with 264k miles. When I replaced the glow plugs 5ish years ago, I bought new harnesses from Riffraff just in case. Once I installed the new glow plugs, I looked at the harnesses closely for any wear or bear spots and didn't see any. Like I said, that was 5 years ago and the factory harnesses are still working great. I do still have those harnesses from Clay just in case. Glad I bought them when I did as they're probably quite a bit more expensive now.
