For the people on here that bought Excursions, what was the final deciding factor of the purchase? I'm just curious as to what point of the vehicle got your to but it. I would love to own but but I'm only going to be 17. Thanks
Well there was no single point but more of a collection of many.
For me, with 4 kids, size was very important. Not only from a protection standpoint but from a stuff-all-the-crap-the-goes-along-with-kids standpoint. I coulda got by with a full size van but they don't have 4WD capabilites unless you go through the aftermarket. I need it here in New England.
There were many little things that made me choose the X over the Sub'. I have listed them elsewhere here.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-May-02 AT 12:45 PM (EST)]I've owned 4 surbabans (2 Chev, 2 GMC) including the Denali that my wife is still using as her daily driver. 2 of them including the last have been all out loaded, one was stripped and one was mediocre. They were all great trucks... but they were not BIG trucks. I owned a 3500 w/ a 454 for about two years, that was a truck. I wanted to get back to that feeling, and I wanted a diesel. I was tired of feeling like I needed to get rid of a truck when it hit 60-70k. The Excursion is ALL truck and the PSD is a proven engine.
I do a lot of driving and carry a lot of gear, so the space is necessary, but the power and comfort and by choice.
The next step was finding one I liked, and the black-on-black Ultimate package is pretty darn close to the creature comfort level of the Denali... and considering that it towers over the GMC in the driveway without the first mod, it fit the bill just about perfectly.
My 6 year old has a problem with the lack of heated 2nd row seats like the Denali has.. otherwise, we haven't found anything else to complain about!
im 16 and i was trying to decide between a truck(superduty, harley davidson, lightning, or bowtie) or an excursion and i decided on the excursion because
7. my dad has one and i love it
6. my truck seats 4(2 comfortably), and i want something bigger
5. after looking at several SUVs the excursion is the most badass one i could find
4. i need as big of a trunk as i can get b/c im going to be putting a couple of subs back there and i still want to be able to store some things
3. not many ppl have excursions, less ppl have 'street' excursions, im crazy, i like to stand out
2. its got a v10, how hoss is that?
and finally the most important reason
1. a truck can seat me, and 4 girls, an excursion can seat me, and 7 girls, and it could easily hold more if inclined to do so. you being a high schooler should consider the girl to seat ratio whenever looking at potential cars for obvious reasons, i did and look at what i decided to get
1993 Chevrolet K1500 5.7L(mine)
2001 Excursion Limited V10(my dads, completely stock, but still my fav to drive)
2002 Acura MDX Touring & Nav(my moms, delivered June 10th)
hopefully ill be selling the bowtie for a 01 excursion limited v10 black on black(if i can find one)
>and finally the most important reason
>1. a truck can seat me, and 4 girls, an excursion can seat
>me, and 7 girls, and it could easily hold more if inclined
>to do so.
DISCLAIMER: Guys, owning an Excursion is NO gaurantee that you will be able to fill all them extra seats with females. Unless of course you make your own. I'm up to three...
Good luck in your Ecursion hunt, slfmade, I'm sure it will be easier than the 7 girl hunt.
