How hard is it to replace the spark plugs on 2000 X. I spoke with the dealers in my area and they said it cost $350. That seems ridiculous for $25 in parts. I have 41k miles on my X and It is probably not necessary at this time, but I have to look to the future as I want to do this at about 50k
I am new X owner, with a PSD, so I am absolutely no help in terms of your situation... but I have owned two vehicles in the past where the labor involved in getting to the spark plugs dictated a $300+ price tag BEFORE I paid for the plugs themselves! I shopped around at first, but I eventually had to accept the situation.
Have you ever looked at the rear plugs on your V10?
Would you want to spend a Sat. changing 10 plugs, buying new extensions and u-joints to get at them, inadvertently teaching your kids new, colorful, 4-letter word combinations, busting your knuckles, risk breaking the coil-on-plug packs all while trying to save some dough.
Well, actually I'm all for saving dough but I've looked and prodded and even turned some wrenches just to investigate. I came to the conclusion that I will pay someone to do it for me. Probably not $350 though. But if that was the lowest bid that I could find, then so be it.
BTW, why change at 50K? Your plugs should be good till 100K.
