The gas cap from tanks inc came, it fits perfectly and I’m no longer starved for fuel. With the non-vented cap it started stumbling after only a few miles, and there was so much vacuum in the tank that the tank sides pulled inward. No more, just a little vacuum release when you take off the cap.
But…I went out last night and smelled gas again. I’m sure the fuel line doesn’t leak anymore, no spills under the truck. Today I looked under the hood, it took about 5 seconds to see that the fuel pump was wet with fuel. I checked the fuel lines, all secure, dried off the pump with rags and compressed air and fired the truck up, within a few seconds the pump was wet again. I was told that this pump was fine with ethanol, but apparently it’s not.
So she sits, fuel shutoff, waiting for a new fuel pump, which I have, just gotta run to Autozone and get a gasket.
