Of all the things to complain about, right? But for the DW's 2016 F250 that cub holder is a piece of feces. Of all the stuff in the interior and other than the seatbelt, what is used more often?
Yesterday it gave up the ghost again and now has to be propped up from below. I'd like to just change the whole thing out but as I recall from the last time I worked on it, it seems a major disassembly of the dash. If anybody has experience with this slide in/out cup holder I'd appreciate your input. BTW, we are in a far rural area so no access to junk yards for the part so I suppose I'll have to fish around on line for a new OEM part. I'm betting it will be ~$250.
1. there are no pictures of exactly what the problem is.
2. this is the 2017 and later forum. I don't know what your interior looks like. The folks over in the correct forum would be more knowledgeable and happy to help.

He said, "I'd like to just change the whole thing out". Maybe he meant the entire truck

Oops, my bad picking the wrong sub forum. I'll find the moved post and add a few pix.
I'm not familiar with a 2016. I still haven't seen a legitimate reason of why you don't like them.
I like the ones in my 03 but will say the ones in the center console are too shallow but I don't use those for drinks. I also drink out of a bottle, so no issues really.
If you are familiar with dodge, remember when they put the cup holders on top of the stereo? That was the dummest thing ever right there.
overall, there will never be a perfect vehicle and will always be some sort of trade off. They can't please everyone on everything
a way to rectify the issue...don't drink and driveJ/K

Do you have a center console? If not there's a folding one that lives above the transmission hump. My '11 didn't have it (almost surely because it's very close to the manual t-case shifter), but my electric shift '08 did. Direct swap.
Per the OP, here are pix of the messed up cup holder. All I am asking about is information on how to get it out/removed without tearing the dash apart. The right side spring clip broke first and next was the broken clip that holds the whole sliding assy in position so it doesn't droop to the floor hump. It wasn't abused - all it takes are two 16oz drinks and a bumpy road. Argh.

See, that's EXACTLY the style to which I referred above but that FOLDS, doesn't SLIDE as OP states.
OP's picture(s) don't show for me two posts up, so that's no help.
So.....unless others are seeing his pic(s), I'd say we're all still in the dark about what exactly is going on.
Also while that vid states '08-10, '11-16 is identical, or at least my '11 was.
OP, typically for tearing into the fascia of the dash on these trucks it's a good idea to stock some of the white plastic trim clips. The dash mostly just pulls apart and snaps together so don't be skeered, but plastic retainers love to break (true of any modern vehicle).
You can buy inexpensive import copies of the clips on Amazon for a song.
Sometimes a people may think they are getting honked by a dealer and maybe they are but watching the video of the line mechanic getting to the cup holder, it's a hoot. It's exactly what I expected. At least these guys have the documentation. Previously I tried to head into this blind and realized I needed to back out. I have for a long time specialized (professionally) in fixing stuff that isn't supposed to be fixed. But in these times I am not so patient because the end of the world is coming and what matter is a cup holder?
Thank you folks. I'm not going to go through this process.
Can you imagine someone buying a Ram because the cup holder is better? I can't imagine a GM cup holder being better. But this is the tip of the iceberg: a darn cup holder... But regardless of your rig they are all like this.
For the DW, she puts a water bottle under the cup holder. That will continue.
He's absolutely smoking it in that video. You don't have to pop out the unfitter switches or TBC
Just pull the left and right smaller panels to get to two 7mm bolts, then unclick the ENTIRE black surround (finger indicates). The black surround just pulls off.
This is not a hard job by any means but OP's reaction helps to remind me why I shouldn't feel bad about charging for "simple" jobs. What's simple to me is terrifying to others. End of index finger shows one of the hidden cupholder bolts. Easily accessible with black fascia just unclipped at bottom
But in these times I am not so patient because the end of the world is coming and what matter is a cup holder?
Thread is closed by the OP. Darn it.
End of what world is coming? What 'world' do you speak of? If you mean Biblical Eschatology, 'that' 'World/Age Ended 2,000 years ago. When looking at the 'who/what/where/when/why.... these have NOTHING to do with the year of Our Lord 2023, but 30-70AD.....It is NOT 'our' Eschatology, it is 'theirs'. The Mosaic Biblical world/covenant age ended in 70AD and the New Biblical Messianic world/covenant was consummated at the same time.
Fix your cup hold. you do not need an oem, you can google dozens of places that sell the insert.
