Yeah I hear ya.
Gonna order the Melling pump.
Worth doing a damper while I'm in there?

Maybe
My damper went south and did pump while there.
The autozone $200.00 dampers were not good qualtiy and went through two of them in a few days of use. The rubber on one wasnt even cured. The other one the rubber didnt stick to the steel outer hub

I went with Fluid Damper which can never wear out but it does go for 600 and you need to keep a 10 mm wrench in glove box to take fan off for a belt change unless you get a SD pulley.

Best place to tie in for low pressure oil gauge. Top of hpop reservoir? 1/8" plug on filter housing? 1/8" plug at back of block?

I would say top of HPOP but the oil filter housing has a spot as well as the block

Should a guy have a gauge in cab to monitor all the time? Or just attach periodically to verify everything is good?

Obviously in cab gauge would need to be electronic.

These 7.3 cant die easy if you run out of oil, unless going down a long grade

Why?

Once injection system gets a bubble of air, the injectors wont fire thus saving engine in a low oil condition.

IMO, stick with the OEM dash gauge that runs off a switch unless you like extra things to look at
