I searched the forum for this for a solid 45 minutes and haven’t found it. Was wondering what the part number is for the voltage regulator on a 1972 F250 390 without A/C.
I bought a D2AF-10316-A from Kentucky Mustang thinking it was the same for the trucks, only to find out it’s shaped different (taller) and I’m not about to find out the hard way that it doesn’t work. The pictures in their listing don’t show how tall the dang thing is.
I'm looking for the part number because I’d like to find a quality replacement, I’m a little skeptical of the cheap aftermarket ones that are currently available.
My truck is a 1972 F250 390 without A/C as well. I bought my voltage regulator from NPD Ford Truck Parts. When I bought it I had a 38 amp alternator on my truck, I have since then put on a 60 amp alternator with no issues. It is the same number as the one you bought from Kentucky Mustang. See discription. This is a concorse looking voltage regulator and was the same height as my original truck regulator. Someone may have put a smaller sized one on your truck at some point.
Ah thank goodness, yeah there are many things I am still learning about this truck after 11 years, I believe I just discovered the difference between the mechanic regulators and the electronic regulators. Good, I’d prefer a mechanical one anyhow. Just glad I didn’t waste $50 or have to deal with returning it. Thank you for your help confirming, that’s exactly what my new one looks like.
I’m a little weary about this though, found on the page you linked. I’m running the 60 Amp alternator, but if you’ve had no issues then I suppose we’re fine.
