2017 f250 6.2 towed for the first time today just a u haul cargo trailer so not heavy. I notice a vibration when the truck shifted from what I believe 3 to 4 and then again 4 to 5. Not crazy bad but sounds kind of like going over a rumble strip but without the movement. Have noticed it when not towing but not nearly as much. Have heard it might be a shifter cable but I don't know anything about it. Has anyone had this happen. Is there a fix? Is it harmful?
Textbook torque converter issue. Trans fluid ever been changed? A new transmission filter and fresh fluid may help. If it's too far gone the torque converter will need replacing.

No idea its on my list of new truck maintenance to get done. What's a torque converter run? Am I hurting it running it some now till I get it fixed?
Nope won't hurt anything to drive it. I have no idea what the labor and parts would cost to replace it. Definitely worth trying a new transmission filter and fresh fluid first, that might make it shift better, especially if the previous owner(s) neglected that maintenance. I know Ford says it's "lifetime" fluid, but no fluids last for a lifetime. Trans fluid should be have been changed twice in your truck's life at this point and it may not have ever been done once.
When I did mine I bought the Dorman replacement trans fluid pan. It's exactly like the stock pan but it has a drain plug. Now I can drain and fill trans fluid easy as pie in the future, and I swapped in a fresh Ford trans filter while I was in there. I probably won't ever touch the trans filter again now that the break in fluid and shavings are all out. Just fluid swaps in the future. My 6R140 took 9 quarts to fill to correct level after the pan and filter swap.
