Dumb question: does it have a pump, or do you have to lift it up to a higher spot in order to drain it into container(s)?
Yes it has a pump on it.
I will not put a drain valve on an oil pan. Way to many engines have gotten ruined from them.
Corn stalks will get them open one way or another no matter how many zip ties or fancy locks you have
on them.

Do you have links showing instances of this happening?...not that I ever find myself driving in or around corn stalks haha. I'm more curious about engine failures attributed to oil drain valves, this is the first I've heard of it.
There are different styles of drain valves available, not all have a lever like Fumoto. Stahlbus is one.
I just checked, a 5 gallon bucket is just a smidge too tall to make it to the drain plug. Do you use ramps? I bet I could just park with one corner on a board and it would fit. (maybe I'm missing something)

What is your truck configuration? A 5g bucket fits under my stock '19 4wd.

I use ramps. My fatass wouldn’t fit under there without them anyways!
Attached a pic, but there is a metal brace that blocks the bucket.
That small amount that they lowered the 2020+ must be just enough to interfere with using a 5g bucket. Since switching to the Fumoto valve I now just run a tube into this 5g jug and only use the 5g bucket for the oil filter. Prior to that I used the 5 for both. Some blocks would do it for you.

Not sure what I'm supposed to get from that? The first link is a picture of a Fumoto valve posted by someone who had never seen one before. The second link is someone talking about a stripped drain plug and helicoil that came out.....maybe if I open them on my computer instead of phone it will show something different?

if you read down thru it multiple people talk about the valves getting opened and locking up the engine.
At the first oil change put on a fumoto, noticed its got seapage going on but not enough to be a concern. Figure ill reinstall and give it another shot and switch back to the drain plug if it does it again.
Only off-roading I do is getting hay out to the barn or on gravel roads (if that even counts) so I'm not too worried about it opening while driving, but that is interesting to consider if i were to find myself in a situation where i would have stuff stabbing up at the bottom of the truck.
