So I’m new here, came here to ask about some stuff goin on with my idi. She used to run and drive around the yard fine (it’s a projects so I ain’t got her on the road yet) so it started doin this a few weeks ago but when I was drivin around it starts reving up and sometimes it just sticks almost like it’s fast idling but after a bit you can hear a click and it drops back to the normal idle… and when it’s cold it seems fine but right when it starts moving it kinda starts reving up and down like crazy.. could this be a air leak somewhere? Thanks in advance
throttle linkage and springs are all nice and smooth and springs are strong, how can I test for air gettin in somewhere?
Obtain 5/16 i.d. clear fuel line and replace the segment coming out of the fuel pump. If bubbles, work upstream with more clear tubing. If no bubbles, do same downstream.

ok👍🏻I’ll be doin that when I get sone time and will update
So I went to move it this mornin and it did it again… and when I just pulled forward a bit I saw my fuel gauge is like bouncing all over the place and it never bounced passed 1/4 tank but right when it started to slow down bouncin all over the truck started reving up and down again… yall think this counted be a fuel pick up issue like it’s sucking air from in the tank?
That sounds reasonable. Fill the tank and see if you continue to have the same problem. If it goes away, you may be sucking air at the fuel pickup. The shower head pre-filter may have disintegrated, so the pickup doesn't draw from as low in the tank as it should.
So since this last post, I’ve put a new pickup in the tank and that seems to have been the issue. But she ran for a month with no issues, yesterday I switched to the rear tank and it Ran for 30 seconds then ran out of fuel, so I switched back to the front tank and have been cranking her for a good while and no fuel is even to the filter, bet when I switch the selector you can here it move so I think the valve is fine, could this been a plugged up line, or a bad fuel pump?
I'm guessing you have a bad engine driven fuel pump. When they go out, the fuel injection pump cant pull fuel from the tank.
How long has the truck been sitting? Diesel fuel has the bad habit of growing moss/algae in the fuel tanks. This can foul the engine driven fuel pump or clog the filter.
