I just picked up a 2013 F-250, very few issues with it, but this is one of them. Using the key fob all doors except the driver lock. You can't even manually push down the lock. It goes half way down and gets a springy feeling to it.
It can be locked by using the key in the lock. But you cannot remove the key. You turn it to the lock position and it locks. But if you turn it back to remove the key it just unlocks it.
Sounds like the lock rods in the door are messed up, someone may have been working inside the door (replacing a power window motor, speaker, hard to say) and crossed the lock rods, or one of the clips is broken and has slid down. Wiring could be routed improperly inside the door. COULD even be a bad door lock actuator. OR someone may have used a jimmy on the door and messed something up.
Any way you cook it, the best thing to do is pull the door panel off and start poking around, see if you can look inside while you or someone else actuates the lock and see what's binding up.
Sounds good, I'll have to do a bit of investigating.
Also have to figure out what to do about the tailagate. I didn't try opening it when I was looking at it, got home, tailgate is locked and the key doesn't work on it... Tempted to just hammer a screwdriver into it and then replace the cylinder. But wondering if a locksmith could rekey it to match the ignition key while the cylinder is in the truck, or if it would need to be picked and then removed by them to do so.
