FE446 first dyno resuls
used to have a 77 4x4 with a built 429, heads, cam etc.....fell flat on its face after about 3700 rpm with the edlebrock no matter what i tried, it only like the holley 750..........
also i currently have a 65 stang with a built 302 and it doesnt like anything else than a 750 either....everything else it has idle issues...........and it's always ran the strongest with the holley.
i bet you'll notice a big diff with a 750 or bigger......especially in the mid and upper rpm's...........by the way gtex, about whats the redline on that beast you've built???
Greg
A 750 Vacuum Secondary Speed Demon P/N 1402010VE, and a dual feed fuel line P/N 140020 should work extremely well on your truck. We'd also recommend using a 1" 4-hole carburetor spacer between the carb, and intake manifold P/N 110019.

parts are on the way (I did go with the VFE carb to try their Ford Kickdown linkage). I also got an H-Pipe kit. Another $570 dumped into this cash pit....

Software estimates that this motor is done making power at 4500 RPM. The hardware is good for well over 6000 rpm, but that is where the MSD 6AL Rev limit is currently set at.
Carters have there place and it's anywhere but on a performance engine. On a 446 with a roller cam in a truck that weighs around 4000 lbs I'd go with either a 750 holley dual feed mechanical secondary or an 850 vac. secondary. If you want to combine some technology with tuning your truck and not buy the fuel injection, put O2 sensors in your exhaust and read the voltages with a multimeter.
