Never...but can be said about my oil in either truck, never needed to add any.
Doesn't mean I won't check them when they're in your face. But then I check power steering fluid, coolant and battery acid... crazy routine. 🤪
As far as other axle fluids if there is no puddles under the truck and no oil residue on axles all is good.
The only reason I check the engine oil is verify there's no diesel leaking into the crank case. The transmission fluid should be checked while the engine is running making it useless to check engine oil at the same time.
I don't think they do... of course they famously don't have dipstick tubes either. I can't totally hold that against them however since my 6R140 didn't have a drain plug from the factory either, like I said I had to go the dorman route.
Given your assumed limited exposure to road salt, the pan is a very easy swap. If you want to save a few bucks, I would go the dorman route for the drain plug. The 10R140 is a thermally regulated environment, not sure the aftermarket pan will really be of much benefit. If you can handle a DPK, a pan swap is a breeze. I agree on the service intervals, I get leery anytime an OEM says the service interval is longer than the warranty period. I plan on servicing my 6R140 on 50-60k intervals. That has served me well on every other automatic transmission I have had.
My exposure to salt should be very limited...Sure, I am now in Florida, but I don't think I will have to worry about the salty environment since I am not driving my truck on the beach... and even then, not sure if it would be a concern. However, a couple of years ago when I was camped right on the Atlantic I did end up coming back with some salt corrosion on my camper... I think this was from the mist from the waves and wind... I don't know...
Anyway, as far as install, I am more concerned with making a mess in my rental driveway than my ability to do it. It seems pretty straight forward. I will check out the Dorman pan though. I don't guess I need that fancy PPE one... I will admit, it does look nice, but then again, no one will be crawling under my truck to check out my transmission pan! LOL

I can appreciate that, and I know that many things upgraded on these trucks aren't a necessity. However, I do enjoy doing these things, and I do believe that each little thing can improve stock performance... as to whether or not that is enough to warrant an upgrade is another question. However, regardless of upgrading the parts, I will continue to do earlier than suggested fluid changes, and in this case, a transmission pan with a drain plug will make that easier.
Anyway, thanks for all the replies. And Overkill, I am going to have to spend more time looking at the things you shared!
