96 B4000 stalls while cold

Just started happining since temps drop below 40. When I come to a stop the idle drops, unless I give it gas in time it stalls. Only does this untill truck is up to full operating temp. Any ideas?

I would try cleaning the IAC, that controls the idle speed.

And check the EEC engine temp sensor. Pull codes first, though.

more info.. I do not have a book for the truck yet so where are the EEC & IAC sensors? Also I do not have a check engine light on so I dont think I have any codes but I will check(acutually I dont think I have a "Check Engine" light?? I kave a "Check Guage" light so I figure thats the same as Check Engine?? If there is a check engine light on the 96's where is it on the guage cluster? when I turn the key on no engine light illuminates? but thats not to say a previous owner didnt disconnect it? thanx for the replies

Yep - you should have a CEL for sure. I guess you'll have to pull the codes - I'm not familiar with the EEC-V in the '96's (aka OBD II) I can't be of further help. It's out of my realm of knowledge.

The IAC is the idle control valve, the EEC is the computer. The check gauge light is not the same, you do have a CEL and it should come on for a few seconds when you turn the key on. Also you can have codes without the light being on.

So my CEL must be disconnected..or out? Where is the CEL located on the gage cluster on the 96's.

For what it is worth - in our fleet we have had the same problems with most of our Tauri of the same vintage. The connections to the MAF seem to corrode as we are right at the harbor. Some electrical cleaner and a toothbrush almost always solves the cold/start lousy running problem.
