5r55s Servo
Noticed leaking transmission fluid on my remanufactured ATK 5r55s with less than 20k miles. Overdrive Servo snap ring was halfway out of the groove. Removed it and the cap, to find the servo shaft not in the bore and had sheared off of the top part. The bore is fine, still has a shiny new sleeve installed from the remanufacture process. I have a new servo now, and I'm getting ready to install, when I read that the band was supposed to be loosened two turns before the original servo was removed. Seeing as my servo was no longer in the bore when I discovered it, am I fine with just loosening the bands (after performing band adjustment to see if band is still intact) and proceeding with the install? Or did this become catastrophic?
