Wrecked
I've got a 2002 F250 7.3. I just got into an accident last night with a 2003 Expedeition. She hit me by going through a red light and without her headlights on. I obviously got slammed hard and her SUV is totally destroyed. My truck has major damage to the entire right side most of it being on the front end. The front wheel was facing out about 45 degrees so the suspension is destroyed as well. Has anyone here ever have this kind of damage and if so, when it got repaired, was there ever any significant after effects? I wish it would be considered totaled, but it probably will not since it is a heavy truck and it will take quite a bit to get it to that point.

I am OK. She complained of a leg inury, but the male said that she had it before the accident. I am not surprised that I was OK. I am very surprised that she was. At the rate of speed she was going at, I'm very amazed that she was not hurt. Thank you for the concern. An Expedeition is a big truck, but it's not eniterly about the frame. The F250 is. Now I am stuck looking for a truck to tow my race car for next weekend. I've been relegated to driving my 2001 Ranger 4.0 4X4. HAHA, not a bad second choice, it's a great truck. Thanks again for the concern 02Superstroker.

My brother in law had the front of his 99 smashed in pretty good. nearly totaled it.
Insurance fixed it. He's been running it for about 2 years now with no side affects. The tires wear good, suspension is good.
Hold it.......there was that night when something electrical caught fire under the hood........hhhmmmm.
You're right, they're never the same after a major hit.

I went to go today to check the damage in the sunlight. The lower A arm is completely snapped of in the middle. But, the rim isn't cracked, go figure. It's gonna need a new door, hood, bumper, headlight, rear fender and front fender. I still cannot believe the extent of my damage compared to hers.

A person can't have anything nice anymore. It seems that it doesn't pay to buy new vehicles. They stay new for such a short time. You spend hours waxing, accessorizing, etc., for what? So some A _ _holes can just bang-em up in parking lots, hit and run you, etc... I swore I would never buy a new vehicle here in the city. But..what did I do? Had to buy the PSD. Don't regret it a bit. Just will be really pissed when I get the first ding, bang, dent, etc. Someone will pay!
I hope your PSD is repaired and returned good as new.

thats why we have insurance....now, i hope you have good insurance, as there are only about 3 companies in the biz that are GOOD.
now, on to the frame....
many insurance companies love to force body shops to repair frames, when in fact it is a far better to replace them.
at my shop, most of the time we replace them....especially on the g.m. hydroformed frames, nearly unrepairable....
if they do want to repair it, make sure you find out when they are doing the actual repair, and pop in on them.
hopefully you will find them using a torch on it
that is a no-no btw, you can only heat a frame to around 800f before ford says it is junk, and it could be as little as 400. (all manufacturers have different temp maximums, call to see what it is!) a torch, if used (which is VERY common...) can only be held to the area for about 2-4 seconds according to most manufacturers, which is worthless if trying to repair with heat...so bodymen will usually heat it to yellow hot, and bang on it...this causes serious issues with strength in the future.
however, this is the best way for you to get a new frame if your insurance company forces the body shop to repair the frame.
last, unless you have a cracked block, trans case, and MAJOR structural damage aside from the frame, your truck will not total.
insurance companies generally spend about 70% of high blue book before they determine a vehicle a total loss....which in this case will be close to, if not more than 20k.
either way, glad your not hurt, and if ya need some help with your claim, or insurance company, hit me on email and i will do my best.
