My 95 4.9 is at the machine shop being built then going in my 67 2wd 4 speed after the duyno break in. The question I have is. Can I use the oil pan from the 95 or do I have to run the pan from the 67? I noticed today the 67 appears to have more of a front sump where the 95 is a rear. I’ll swap after the dyno, but I really don’t want to. Thanks, Joe
Is your oil pickup front, rear or center sump? I think the 80-96 rear sump pan will be fine as long as it plays nice with your pickup tube.
I'm pretty sure all beam era trucks and vans use rear sump. The later generations of cross-member was much bulkier than the earlier stuff so any pan that fits a new truck should fit an old one.
It depends on the vehicle it's going into more than the engine itself.
Rear sump vs. center sump had more to do with putting a sump in the oil pan in a location where it didn't hit the frame.
If your vehicle requires a center sump, then you'll need to change it or it'll possibly hit.
