While trying to buy another e40d, do I need to look for a new TC? Or, would the one I have be good? Maybe the slipping put junk in it and I should get a new one? How do you tell?

have TC rebuilt if unsure, flush cooling system really well and get the Viton seal for it too
Monster transmission has one for 449. I wouldn't spend a bunch for what u use it for. I paid less than that for one 4 or 5 years ago for my other 97. There gone up though, just like everything
Will a 7.3 idi e40d fit and work OK? The seller says so but I was also told the TC would have to be changed.

i did the same swap two years ago on a 95. trans came out of a 92 or 93 IDI
Tom is correct. It will work with a Powerstroke converter.

It is easy to tell if you need to get a new converter or use the old one. If you want the new trans to die very quickly, use the old converter. If you want it to last, get a new converter.
