So this will be my third trip with this same scenario back to the dealer to see whats wrong with the truck.
when the truck gets to half a tank, it will throw a gas cap and / or evap emmission system code.
Already on the second purge valve, and second gas cap.
Anyone else run into this issue? Didn't find anything in the search ( probably user error).
Well it appears they figured it out and I wanted to drop a resolution incase someone else runs into the issue.
Dealer had to replace all of the hard plastic evap tubing and the filler neck to get rid of the evap codes. Apparently there were some hairline cracks in the tubing causing the codes to pop up.
Did they mention any kind of tsb for faulty parts??
Well, no they didn't. The tubing also didn't fix the issue.
The light came back this summer a couple times and the original dealer couldn't find the cause.
Contacted ford through FB messenger and filed a case with them.
I then took the truck to a new dealer this past week and they replaced the entire fuel tank. The ford rep called me and the dealer to go over the repair plan.
Hopefully this time is the trick. Tired of getting that P0456 small evap leak and seeing that stupid orange light.
Gas cap tightness... I got the evap code all the time when I bought a lockable gas cap, I was just about to giver up on it and put the original cap back on, until I thought, well lets see what happens if I "over tighten" it... I cranked it a turn or two past where it started to click, and bingo, problem went away...
