I guess I'm going to have to see what codes come up.It's weird, because the check engine light comes on only sometimes, and usually after driving 5-10 miles. It stays on for a few minutes, then goes off. It's been happening for a few weeks.Haven't had a chance to check the codes.Figure it's the TPS,or maybe an oxygen sensor.Drove it out to Carlisle last week-no problem-the check engine light never came on.Even 2-3 days later,in around town driving(stop&go),the light never came on again. As of yesterday,it started up again. It's running good, but I want to find little problems, and fix them, before they have a chance to become big ones.It ran WONDERFULLY on the PA. Turnpike, driving out to Carlisle.
I forget what year you have so for a simple one which i try first, check the gas cap. After running the Bronco for a bit, shut the engine off and unscrew the cap and listen (or feel) for the slight negative pressure in the tank. Could be a loose cap or a bad cap gasket.
then, the rest of the usual CEL faults that you mentioned + all the others that the codes will help you with.
