Hello, I got a problem with the 1995 ford f250 460cui gas. The problem is that when I'm running on the rear tank it constantly pours fuel into the front tank. I have looked there is no fuel tank selector. No check valves on the lines. I'm been trying to find the problem but not having luck.
Fuel pressure regulator and both fuel pumps have been replaced. Im wondering if the pumps have a check valve in them or not?
Your front tank has a stuck shuttle valve. It normally closes when the pump is not running. Unfortunately there's no way to repair it. Dropping the tank the tank and replacing the FDM unit is the solution.
I got a new front fuel pump coming in to see it it replaces it. Really the only thing i did is block off the return line to the front to see if it changes it and still doing the same thing. Also forgot the mention that when i tested the fuel pump it would work for a little bit but then catch air into the system even it was fuel submerge
Did you buy the pump or the whole delivery module? The pump is only the electric pump. The fuel delivery module includes the pump, hanger, oring, check valve, shuttle valve, sock, float sensor, and reservoir.
I have replaced the midship/front tank pump and it fixed it. There a new problem I have new on the rear tank. When running on the rear it wants to cavitate on the rear after running for a couple minutes. I'm wondering if I had the same problem with the front pump having the shuttle valve being open or not.
It runs fine on the front and rear but the just wants to pull air from something or somewhere. Just wondering if it a bad fuel filter. The filter sits near the T point by the tie ins of the midship/front tank lines.
There is one filter for both tanks so how would it run fine on the front but not on the rear if the filter was the problem?
If it is drawing air then it has to be the FDM or the line to the filter. I would say it is the FDM because, I would think, you’d see a leak or smell fuel since there is 30+ pounds of pressure in that line.
Now I have faced a new problem now on my truck.
New fuel pumps front and rear.
New tank switch.
New fuel pump relays.
The truck has a problem with the front fuel pump where is switched to it and it does pump with 1/2 full of fuel but it acts like and catching air and pump is getting a bad connection. The rear tank will run just fine and a little and have the same problem as the front will. I have spent over 150 in 3 different fuel pumps and nothing will change it. Wondering if it a wiring problem in it or not.
Unfortunately new parts are unknowns as far as quality is concerned. Does it run poorly sitting still or only while driving? Put a gauge on it to monitor fuel pressure.
Unfortunately i dont have a fuel pressure gauge.
1. it runs like crap on the front tank when it at idle.
2. On the rear is fine for couple miles and runs like crap then i switch it from front to rear within a couple seconds between each other then runs fine for a little.
