370 Engine
370 Engine
Hey guys,I had a question about the Ford 370 engine. I'm not very familiar with it. It is my understanding that it has the same block as the 429 and 460 engines. I just bought a 1985 F-800 from my work for next to nothing with a 370 4v in it. My plan was to bring the truck home and weld a flatbed for it (the original was removed) and make it a hay hauler or something like that. I also have a spare f-150 that is pretty much sitting right now, and I had thought about removing the 302 in it and using it in a mustang build I'm doing. All that to say, I was just curious if I could take the current 370 and make it into a 460? Would I pretty much just have to overbore the engine and get a different crankshaft? And if I was able to make it into a 460, how much of a chore would it be to swap it into the f-150? Anyway, I don't know which is going to be harder, finding the metal and welding a flatbed, or scrapping the body and swapping the engine into a smaller truck. I would love to get a little direction on where to take this project.
Thanks,
Austin
