I have read the other threads about the TPS and replacing the go pedal or cleaning it solves some issues but not seen anyone post what happens to my setup with the zf6.
I will be going down the road at highway speeds in final gear and the go pedal will just stop responding, no CEL, no codes, it just stops responding to my inputs, here is the part I haven't seen from others, if I downshift it comes right back to working and I am fine (even CC works afterwards).
It does this VERY randomly so I have not been able to nail down a solution, the fact it starts working again when I downshift has me scratching my head?? No codes are posted so I can't chase that down.
Sticking IPR......
The downshift changes engine rpm, which dislodges the stuck solinoid, which restores operation. It probably is a simple solution such as finding the tin nut in the valley and reinstalling it back on the IPR.
Finally getting around to fixing this. It stopped doing it for a while but has come back so went ahead and picked up a new IPR and ICP and another CPS for kicks and giggles for the glove box. Also picked up a new belt tensioner to stop the squeaking, all from Riff Raff so should be legit.

Any thoughts?
What about trying cruise control on WHEN it's acting up? I think CC bypasses the pedal sensor so that's a quick troubleshoot you can play with. Will it come back eventually or does the pedal go completely unresponsive to where you'd coast to a stop if you didn't downshift? It very well could be a sticking IPR valve also.
I had some difficulties with throttle response, along with codes stored that pointed towards loss of signal from the pedal assembly itself. Before I put the money down on a new pedal assembly, I went to ford with the assembly in my hand and purchased rebuild plug kits that included new connectors and everything needed for new connections at the pedal assembly. In addition to that, I emory clothed the pins in the pedal assembly. That was two years ago now and the truck has responded flawlessly ever since.
I believe they do get dirty and start causing throttle control issues, particularly partial-throttle cruising where it will start to “clip” or miss a little until you put firmer pressure onto the pedal to smooth it out. I have noticed this phenomena before.
So far I have not had the issue come up after replacing the IPR and ICP. Truck does run smoother now. Test will be this weekend with the camper on the back.
Finding a 29mm deep socket locally for the IPR was a chore (HF,Lowes,HD no go), ending up finding one at Advance Auto for $16.
