I bought a new 23 Superduty. It comes with two key fobs and I had a 3rd fob, that I've used on my last truck.
I went thru the programming sequence. Truck said programming complete. Fob works IF its in the little depression you use to program fobs.
Take it out of the depression and key does not work and truck say "no key detected." Put it back in depression and it works.
I put a new battery in the FOB, assuming it was a battery problem. Nope, Still doesn't work
Any suggestions?
I don't know about 2023 trucks. But previous trucks could have up to 8 FOBs.
When you program it. You are just introducing the FOB as a trusted member into the trucks memory banks. Programming does nothing to the FOB. It's just the truck now see and recognizing the fob as being valid
This particular FOB, I bought off Ebay. I'm sure it was from a wrecked truck or somebody just only gave up 1 fob when they traded in their truck. I cut a new keys for it and used it in my 2017 and 2020 trucks and it worked great.
I keep a Fob in pocket, One at home in the Key box, and I usually put a 3rd key in Horse trailer incase I loose my #1 key on the mountain somewhere and don't want to wait 6 hours for my wife to bring me the spare from the house.
