Snow plow prep package. Usually theres no snowplow but haevier front springs (plow weight) higher output alternator to power lights bigger radiator bigger cooler for the tranny. Changes between comapanys and I'm not sure what ford is exactly but you get the idea

On the f150 it was only available as part of the 7700 package in later models. Not sure about a 99 as they didn't have 7700's then, the were similar to F250's.

Not sure what you meant here though: "snowplow mfg said that I snowplow package from the Ford dealer"

i think you need the 7700 or the lightduty 250 to get the snowplow prep. They do not recomend a full size plow on the regular f150's. The only f150 trucks that came with the snow plow prep is the 7700. it has all of the things frdbuy said,

1. heavier frame
2. heavier springs front and rear
3. larger tranny 4r100
4. tranny and oil coolers
oh ya the 5.4L V8

A dealer cannot put on all those things, my point being i wouldnt put a plow on a regular F-150 it is not made to handle the load.

Hope this helps.

Fisher plows makes a fantastic plow for your truck and you don't need a "plow prep" package. It is the LD series of plows made just for half ton torsion bar pickup trucks. I just finished in stalling their LD minute mount plow on a 99 f150 extra cab, and with adjusted the torsion bars 1/4 inch. The front end sags very minimally, the ride and drive is good, and the entire package works very, very well. This is a full size, 7 1/2 foot blade, and a very high quality setup. I don't know if you have fisher plows in your area, but I can't recommend them enough. Good luck.

Snow Plow Prep Package for '99 F150 included HD Electrical/Cooling Group (72 amp hr. battery, super engine cooling, aux trans cooler), P255/70Rx16SL OWL AT tires (includes 3.55 ratio), styled steel wheels (Work Series, XLT V8 only), heavy duty shock absorbers, 3900 Front GAWR. This is from 1999 F-series sales brochure. The 7700 was not yet available but the F250LD was. Snow Plow Prep Package for it inluded HD electrical/cooling package as above, LT245/75Rx16D OWL AT tires, 4150 lb. front GAWR. If you have Class III Trailer Towing, you already have the HD electrical/cooling package and HD shocks. Get the heavier front springs from dealer and use 8 ply tires and you'll be close or better. And make sure your plow isn't too heavy for your truck. Not to contradict anyone but the SPP was available on F150 prior to 7700 and in addition to those available on F250LD according to my Ford lit. It could be possible it was tied in with another package or only available with V8, lower gears. My brochure is not all inclusive just informational so I'm just passing it on.

My '98 F250LD has #3600 Front GAWR (#7200 GVWR), no snow plow package but did have a plow at one time. Springs should fit F150 but I'm not positive. I can get # if needed or you can wait for someone with heavier springs. The heavy springs will help ride height and alignment with the plow attached depending on the weight of the plow. Your springs may be able to handle a smaller plow. If you are considering a particular plow already and know the weight rating required, it will help you determine springs needed if any. My SPR code is 84 and in the load rating box mid right is FO251 on top and lower # is TO351.

Mine says 3400 lbs front GVWR. What code are you referring to on the door jamb? I don't have the plow package but do have the tow package.

I don't have plow package either but do have tow package as well and it is F250LD so same body but heavier frame and suspension. I was assuming "SPR" code on door tag bottom right. Mine says 84 but I can't differentiate front from rear yet and the front is only rated at 3600 lbs. F150 snow plow package had 3900 lb and F250LD snow plow package had 4150 lb front GAWR springs. What code do you need (off springs)? Or would you like to wait for someone with heavier springs?
