It's time for the first official oil change of my '22 6.7 DRW. it's at 5% and I just hit 6,000 miles on the truck.
I don't see anything else in the service area of the manual to do at this time. Is that right?
What would you do at 6k miles on a now 10 month old truck? just change the oil? My previous truck was purchased used, so I've never had the "first" service for it.
I would change the oil and check all the other fluid levels, well the easy to check ones like power steering, coolant, etc. The ones that are a bit harder to check are the transfer case, diff, and tranny. The fluid levels are probably okay but there was a thread where someone had low transfer case level. Hopefully the dealer checked all of that for you. That's all I can think of doing with only 6k on it.
I usually do my first oil change at 5,000 miles. After the first service, I start to follow the Oil Life Monitor. Something more in the 7,500 range for the second and then 8,000 to 10,000 for the all oil changes after that.
Oil and Oil filter for the 1st and 2nd change. Then I add air and fuel filters ever other oil change after that.
And I usually get the first oil change done by the dealer and I do most of the following oil changes if the weather permits. If it's nasty out, I let the dealer do mine. But then I put 3,000 miles a month on my trucks. So it's four oil changes a year for me.
Get your grease gun out and tackle those front axle u-joints, would be the only other service you might want for a year old truck.
And, of course, service intervals are not only mileage based, and I don't recall if there is any other recommended service at one year, maybe fuel filters.
I'm far from an authority on this but when I went in for the 1st service on my 23' 7.3 I reviewed the owner manual service interval details and had them perform the "10k maintenance" @6000mi. I asked that they grease front end (arent alot of great points sealed nowadays?) and check front steering and suspension components for play and premature wear indicators. I might do the next oil change myself. Alot more expensive than my 6.2 f250. That was usually $38-44. 7.3 was closer to $70-80 i believe. I also like noting down what was done on ford pass app so I can refrence that for future services.

Can someone verify on 2023s there are NO grease fittings at all to maintain?
There was another recent thread where it was determined by several '23 owners that the SRW trucks no longer have any grease fittings. The 450 still has them.
