Oil Change
Oil Change
Hi there, i'm new to this... I just bought a 2008 F-150 SuperCab Xlt and had a question about my first oil change..... In the book the first oil change milage is at 7500 miles is this true or should i get one at 1000 miles? Thanks much... Thomas n.
This is just me, but I would change it the first 1,000. Then at 2,000. Then at 3,000.
I personally change my oil between 1,000 and 2,500 miles. With as many miles as my truck has I want to do everything I can to keep it healthy.

You should be scheduled for a new vehicle service at 3000 miles. This service is at no charge to the new owner at least that is what my dealer did. I have been an advocate of the 500 mile first oil change prior to this vehicle. I did not change my ways this time either. A filter and oil was less than $20. I do my own oil changes on a set of ramps in the drive way. I still let the dealer do the 3K service. It is so that the dealer can catch any problems early. I keep my receipts in a vehicle log to maintain warranty coverage. I still change my oil every 3K miles even though the manual calls for a 7500 mile interval. I consider it cheap insurance.
