Ok, if what you are stating is 100% correct and word for word from your dealer then your order will probably never get scheduled if it's on your order as code 80. It needs to be 10-19 for a retail order. So if you have a 80 then any other retail order coming in after yours will always be scheduled ahead probably. Also the dealer saying the code will change once it starts production is even more scary as your priority code only dictates when the vehicle gets scheduled then it means nothing after that.

If you get no movement from the dealer or they continue with these words then I would suggest finding a different dealer as you could be in for a long ride.

Thanks,
This is what I figured, and my biggest concern. I was fine with waiting, but after reading all the stories I'm not sure. I think I'm going to take the 23 and be happy. This is just the oddest car buying experience I've had yet, plus the interest rates are through the roof.

I meant to type this earlier and got lost in the shuffle w/ work: I think that with so few real differences between the two, especially if you need something now grabbing the 23 is likely better. They're cheaper by default. My only counterpoint is that there have obviously been some quality issues in 23 production (dash/cluster issue, the axle shaft issue, etc.) that I am generally glad I have the luxury of waiting for a 24. (There'll be a new set of recalls probably). That leads me to ...I'm curious what you're seeing for interest rates currently? It's been the other wildcard for me; wait and hope against hope they tick down a bit or jump now with known numbers. Meantime, I'm just socking away $$ for more downpayment.

Enjoy your new wheels.

I'm in NY and the salesperson said the low is 7.9%, which kinda made me gasp. Trying to keep the payments as low as possible. And make extra payments.

I'd take the 23. As has already been said "A bird in the hand ..." and these are uncertain times.

Wife said I should get a new truck to my surprise for our trip to Mt. Rushmore next year. Figured I would order it around February. Did a build online but prefer to have a brochure. Go to the local Ford dealer to learn they no longer have brochures. But the salesman said they just got a 2023 in. A guy had the dealer build it but didn’t order it. Through some snafu, the truck showed up. It was 95% of what I built online and had the 3 showstoppers that without those, I would not buy it. They gave me what I needed for my trade, there was no mark up, and I drove it home a few days later.

Put deposit on the truck, will pick up in a few weeks. Just looked at my order for the 24 and the 23 is more expensive 😢. Getting worried with everyone starting to get deals under MSRP,

Just realized this yesterday. Lol
We shall see how it goes. The salesperson was already starting with the financing game, and the famous numbers that aren't even close to working out. Until it's in the driveway, you never know.

How does one know their priority code on an order for a 2024?

It should be on top of the order sheet.

How is it assigned? Does the dealer just throw something on it or does Ford dictate anything?

My original order for my 2023 was a priority code 33. My salesman said this 2024 order is a priority 3. Does that sound sensible?
