Help With Dashboard Installation

I’m putting my dash back in after pulling it out a few years ago and trying to find where or what goes in these holes.

First one is behind the dash pad. It looks like something should attach there. The other two are the copper nut inserts behind the glove box.

How about you tell us what truck you are working on.

Now you’ve got me concerned about answers from people who don’t recognize the model from the pictures.😉 It’s an OBS ford. Dash is common to F-150, 250, 350, and Bronco

I’ve found the answer to the brass nut inserts. They are for the Rear Anti-lock Brake (RAB) module. Still not sure about the hole behind the dash pad.

Snarky comments aren't likely to get you any help. It is common for people to post the year and model of their truck when asking questions.

Sorry, I should’ve taken this serious. This is a Ford forum, not some Mazda or Jaguar forum.

I should have said “Your comment is concerning because you are saying people who do not know the vehicle well enough to recognize it from the description and pictures and year range 87-96 and being on the ford truck forum may try to answer the question. (No emoji)”

Moving forward I will cease to attempt humor in any of its forms. Because this place is for Fords. If people wanted to smile, they’d have bought a Chevy.

Like said above, snarky comments will get people to not want to help you. I may have just joined the forum beginning of the year, but I’ve been here long enough to know this form has given me so much information and help, I’m very thankful for. I don’t know what I would’ve done without it. this forum is a priceless tool, that you almost need when working on these trucks. If you are kind to the people on it, they will be kind to you, and help you. I’ve made a mistake on this forum, for some reason I didn’t continue threads I started new ones every question for the same thing I don’t know why I did that but I did. It got on people’s nerves, when they pointed it out I apologized and fixed what I was doing, so it didn’t irritate the people that are on this forum helping me. It is a community, and the people here do like humor, but it’s just hard to tell when it’s over a computer, I believe you saying you were just trying to be humorous, but some people may read it as a serious comment. And just because they were able to tell what year range truck it was, from the dash. They may not have known specific things from different years or trim levels. I know that on my bricknose f150, there’s two different climate controls, and the dash has different styles based on trim, different clusters so they might have known a difference you didn’t. I don’t know if the different styles have different parts to them or not, but they might and it could be valuable information to you based off of the model and year of your truck.
Sorry if I’m out of my place saying this, but maybe I can help in this situation to calm it down before you leave the forum or a moderator has to get involved.

Your desire to calm things down is recognized but not necessary. Any apology I offered for offending sensibilities would not be believed and wouldn’t be honest. Hopefully the moderator has a sense of humor and knows about the hole in my dash I’ve asked about. If this causes the moderator to also gasp and clutch their pearls, then I’ll see myself out. I’m finding too many snowflakes in the world and I’d hate to melt so many as to cause a flood here. Probably short out a bunch of wires or fry the last functioning keyless entry module.

I’ve seen enough of these dashboards to know that they are the same. The wiring harnesses change a little. But it’s been 3 years since I pulled a dash apart. Want to verify before installing a dash pad and a radio. The less I have to do twice the faster my 4 year project gets to the paint booth.

It also looks like my ‘87 Bronco with the glove box removed. There are too many variables between body styles and options for you not to tell people what you are working on.

Snark away
Thick skin grows around here
If you don't put in the post what you are driving you will get bad info, It's as simple as that
Just because you post in a particular forum means didly squat
Some do not use slang like OBS for instance

My buddy who has an obs said that hole behind the dash pad is for a long brace that runs to the firewall.

This subforum in particular is for 3 different generations of Ford Pickups, all with very different interiors. The copper inserts would not be relevant on a "Bullnose" truck, since they didn't have RABS...so knowing whether or not your truck was that generation would have been helpful. You literally posted a picture of about 3 square inches of dash, and expect us to know all the details of your truck. There may be some have enough knowledge to pull that off, but I am sure most of us do not.

On another note...is that sound deadening on the floor? If so, what brand, and other pertinent details? Never seen that name before...

Thats why I winked in my first reply. 😉

Siless sound deadening. Has good reviews. I bought a box from someone who sells Amazon returned products. Has gone on well. I’m hopeful that the cab is quiet enough to enjoy my music and do business calls if needed.

Yes it is. I used a roller to put it in. I just wiped the surface down with rubbing alcohol before applying. I still need to line the doors and the some of the c pillars.
