1967 Brake Issues
1967 F100, 352 (no longer stock), my issue is the front brakes. Ordered replacement front brakes, TOTALLY the wrong ones, or at least the wrong ones for my truck. Drums they sent were 2 inches deep, mine are 3" swept, about 4" rim to hub. Same with the shoes, what was sent were 2", mine are 3" wide. Retaining springs on the hub plate won't even tension with the 2" shoes.
Particulars of my truck as far as I know them, 1967 F100 Ranger package, 352, 3 speed manual column shift, 3.25 rear gear. Engine was rebuilt about 19 years ago, runs fine. Truck was originally ordered by a family in Alabama, primarily used for towing, a trailer, I think. Production plate reads as follows
F10YKA58476
131 F100 H81 C 17
05000 172 4000 531100
I have most of that decoded, 131" wheelbase, F100, standard cab with Ranger vinyl bench seat - Lt. parchment barcelona and pastel parchment crinkle vinyl, 5000 GVWR, 173hp @ 4000rpm, 53 district code (Kansas City), order number 1100. The reason for no color code is this truck was ordered with Burnt Amber paint which, near as I can tell, wasn't available on 1967 Ford trucks, only Ford cars. I do have most of the build sheet which shows AMBER on the bottom of it, so that is the original color.
The brakes are what's killing me so far. Everything I'm finding shows 2" brakes and drums which is clearly NOT what I have. So, any knowledge from the Great Collective would be much appreciated. Still going to keep researching, see what else I can figure out.
Thanks, All, in advance...
