Engine rattle.
Just after some assistance in diagnosing a rather troubling rattle. I usually have the radio on in the truck. Not loud. But a more moderate volume. So can hear the engine generally what it's playing at. I've done a fair amount of miles in it. Oil pressure is over half on the gauge. So hadn't thought it was a lack of oil. It's quite a high pitched one but like an exhaust shield or alike. Not like a bottom end knock. Or doesn't sound like one to me. Not sure whether it had had a valve job done before I got it. It's done over 100k miles. Had done just over that before I got it. Plus it was super quiet. Although I had bought the bits to do it. Never seem to get time.
Anyway. It seems it's quite light noise wise. Not like a deep rumble knock. Cant be at tick over or just above. Does seem to disappear at some points.
What would you be looking at first.
Thanks in advance.

I do a walmart engine flush every other oil change , i use a good grade syn 5w-30 and one quart of marvel m. oil , its a good cleaner . Don't waste your money on high mileage oil ,it all gets dirty and dirt is hard on this engine .
The cams are controlled hydraulically with dirty engine oil . Get rid of it before 5k or 4 months .
When we do a timing job we put a melling hv oil pump in because the factory one is not good . Many upgrades on engine internals to get better flow ,rollers, lashs etc .
maybe I ought to get an aftermarket one to keep an eye on it. Or even a pressure switch to a light maybe better than the gauge. Any suggestions greatly received.
As regards the oil good point re the marvel mystery oil. Worth a go.
Thanks Roland
What would be the thought that could be?. Thrust bearing faces??. Or maybe something else?
Thoughts as to what it could be would be a help.
Many thanks
Roland
