That's fine for "peace of mind", but is superfluous. I changed my 1998 Jetta TDI for 1st time at 10K miles, and after completely broken in, I went to a 20,000 mile change interval (10,000 recommended) using oil analysis. I also changed my expensive fuel filters every 40,000 miles (20,000 recommended). It now has close to 300K miles, and my son is driving 26 year old car from LA, CA to south FL. He will arrive in a few hours. Runs great still! He got 44 MPG at 80 MPH. I used to get 55 MPG routinely per tankful, during my 90 mile daily commute, when it was still mine. BEST investment in any car I bought! The very 1st more than minor repair, was an A/C compressor at 7 years and 180,000 miles.
At 67 years old, I have only owned 6 vehicles in my life. The first was a 1971 Pinto, then a 1976 Mustang Cobra II (bought new), a 1990 Ford Ranger (also bought new), a 2009 Focus that had almost 200k and still going strong when it was hit in the rear by a tractor trailer, the 2019 Focus, and now the 2023 Maverick.
